What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a science-based healthcare profession which views movement as central to health and well being. Physiotherapists use systematic clinical reasoning in a problem solving approach to promote patient centred care.

Following initial assessment using physical examination and an individual’s history a diagnosis is reached. Guided by the latest research in physiotherapy and biomechanics a management plan is established and appropriate treatment administered helping to alleviate pain and restore movement and function to as near normal as possible.

Core skills used by Chartered Physiotherapists include manual therapy, therapeutic exercise and the application of electrophysical modalities.
